The Wall of Your Lifetime

What Is It?

With a title like that, I certainly have your interest now, don’t I? So what is this wall I’m talking about?

It’s called a “Family Photo Wall,” and if you don’t have one, you need one.

Now this isn’t just any ordinary wall. A Family Photo Wall needs to be a large, prominent wall in your home. You’ll fill it with photos over the course of many years, so you can start small and add to it over time. Just like your family, it will expand and change as the years go by.

You can choose a theme for your wall, like this example:

Or just keep it simple, like this:

Why Should I Have One?

At this point, you might be thinking, “Well, that’s cool, but why do I really need a Family Photo Wall?” I’m glad you asked! Your Family Photo Wall exists to tell the story of your family over the course of your entire lifeIt will help you:

  • Celebrate all the important family moments along your journey

  • Capture who you are as a family through the different stages of life

  • Share a more intimate picture of your family to friends that visit your home

  • Get real, in-person “Likes” over and over, instead of just the “flash in the pan” approach with social media

What Am I Missing Out On?

These are just some of the benefits to having a Family Photo Wall. But what are you missing out on if you don’t one?

  • You might get lost in the busyness of day-to-day life, and slowly forget who you really are as a family

  • You’ll miss out on the daily joy of seeing your photos

  • You won’t have anywhere to put “old” photos when you get new ones.  So you’ll end up stashing them in the closet, or throwing them away. What a waste!

How Can I Start Mine?

If you’re excited about your Family Photo Wall, here are three simple steps to starting:

  1. Find an idea you like

As with any art project, the possibilities are limitless. Personally, I’m a fan of colorful canvas prints in a clean and simple design layout. Others prefer framed black and white prints. It’s your wall, so you can choose to do it however you like. Here are a couple of links to get you started on ideas:

Google Images Search – “Family Photo Wall” – a great resource for getting visual ideas

  2. Commit now and have a plan for adding to your wall regularly

  3. Print your photos!

You can’t show off your photos if they aren’t printed. As a family photographer, I specialize in helping my clients bring their photos to life in their home. If it’s time for new photos, or even if you want to buy prints from a past session, click here to get in touch with me.
